Internal Data Sharing
The System Description can be used alone or with an internal data sharing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to identify the terms and conditions under which a UW organization (Publisher) makes data available to another UW organization (Consumer).
The System Description describes what will be provided and what will not be provided. It describes roles and responsibilities, the interface(s) available, the data to be shared, and how the Publisher intends the data to be used by the Consumer.

Data Flow Diagram
A data flow diagram provides a clear representation of data relationships between systems and within the components of a system. It shows where the data comes from, what happens to the data once it enters the system, and what happens to data when it leaves the system.

Memorandum of Understanding
An interdepartmental Data Sharing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) documents and describes a data sharing relationship, promotes information security and privacy safeguards for University data, and provides the information necessary to successfully manage and maintain the relationship. The MOU typically includes any agreed upon requirements that are different than those in the System Description.
