We have updated our Report an Incident web page to reflect changes to the State of Washington law for data breach notification (RCW 42.56.590) which will go into effect on March 1, 2020. Among the changes, the timeframe for the University of Washington to send notification to affected parties has been reduced from 45 to 30 days.
In addition to updating the “Report an Incident” page, we have added a First Response Checklist for a quick summary of things to do if you suspect an incident, as well as a First Response Guide with longer explanations and information for IT support staff, such as system administrators and system owners.
